Speaker(s): Jessica Lamothe PhD
This day course will introduce students to the skill of reading medieval books and documents. We will survey the scripts used in Western Europe c. 1066 to 1500 and learn practical tips such as recognising abbreviations, and then work together through images of various records, including deeds, wills, and literary manuscripts, in Latin and Middle English. Some knowledge of Latin is helpful but not required for this introductory session.
