The English Civil Wars were some of the nastiest wars fought on our soil, and York was the Northern prize. This course will explore the pivotal role Yorkshire played in these wars and the impact on local families. How did local families decide which side to fight on? Where did people get their arms and armour from? What was the strategic importance of York, and what happened at the Battle of Marston Moor?
