Existentialism and the Philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre

This course is an introduction to the philosophical branch of Existentialism through the theories of the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. Students will be introduced to Sartre’s philosophy by examining four key statements from his work: ‘Existence precedes essence’, ‘Human reality is what it is not, and it is not what it is’, ‘Man is condemned to be free’, and ‘Hell is other people’.
