This course will close-read individual poems like The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and The Thorn, as well as exploring the turbulent post-French Revolutionary history from which the book emerged, probing Wordsworth and Coleridge’s arguments about poetry, and considering the collection’s influence on subsequent literary history.
