The Paintings of Giotto (second cohort)

Saturday 29 January 2022, 10.00AM to 1.15pm

Speaker(s): Peter Finch-Sieg PhD

Giotto is perhaps the most important figure in early Italian art, whose innovations in story-telling and form were rooted in their own period, yet at the same time helped to make possible the emergence of the ‘Renaissance’ one hundred years later. This day-school will place Giotto’s work back into its social, historical and art-historical contexts, with a particular focus on the Arena Chapel cycle, one of the great monuments of late medieval Italian culture.
