Since 1408, York Minster’s Great East Window has survived fire, neglect, unwise restorations and deterioration. Throughout the centuries, its art has mesmerised everyone who stood in front of it. But how was this remarkable window created and executed? This half-day course will explore how John Thornton of Coventry was contracted by the Chapter and how he conceived and executed the Great East Window.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining the course will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
