Pets and Pests: The Archaeology of our Closest Companions

Saturday 26 February 2022, 10.00AM to 1.00pm

Speaker(s): Clare Rainsford MA MSc PhD

Throughout history, the animals with which we share our world have been influential in shaping our lives and beliefs. This session looks at the history of animals which we’ve invited into our lives as companions, and, on the other hand, at those who have been unwelcome guests. From the domestication of the dog thousands of years ago to medieval guinea-pigs; and from plague rats to urban foxes, find out more about the animals we think we know best.
