An Introduction to Medieval Manuscripts

This course will take a close look at medieval manuscripts as historical artefacts and objects of craft. We will examine digital facsimiles of manuscripts from York and elsewhere to explore how these books were constructed, copied by hand, and decorated, an investigation that reveals many fascinating aspects of medieval art and culture.
