Saturday 11 June 2022, 10.00AM to 1:00PM
Speaker(s): Penny Boxall MA
This poetry masterclass will look at the use of the line to shape the content of the poem. It’s the most basic formal tool at the hands of the poet, but also one of the more mysterious: what is a line, and how can we get it to do what we want? We’ll look at what words do in the little spotlight of the line-end, and we’ll consider the power of the very short, and very long, line. Through discussion of example poems, writing exercises and editing tips, we’ll find techniques to kick our lines into shape, and allow them to flourish.
