Theming your Poetry towards a Sequence or Collection (Accredited Course)

Wednesday 21 April 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Speaker(s): Phoebe Power MA

Are you itching to extend, develop, reiterate? How might our poems talk to each other, and why does the order in which we read them matter? During this module we will discuss how to organise poems around a particular theme within a short collection, with special attention towards the creative possibilities of pamphlets. Our reading will include some of today’s most exciting authors whose work goes beyond the short lyric poem, tending towards the sequence, long poem or lyric essay. Through a series of structured activities, students will be guided in developing their own sequences, and by the end of the module will have produced a creative portfolio and critical commentary. Suitable for all levels.
