The Medicis: The History of a Banking Dynasty

Wednesday 21 April 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Speaker(s): Cristina Figueredo BA MA PhD

The name ‘Medici’ is synonymous of Renaissance Florence. Rising from peasants to royal status, the family is a symbol of the changing forces which contributed to conclude the medieval era in Italy. They are also a model of patronage and aggrandisement through art and architecture. By studying surviving documents and art, this course will study the history of the House of Medici, from their humble origins through the splendour of Lorenzo the Magnificent until their demise.
