This module will study the history, artistry, skills, and iconographic meanings of York’s stained glass heritage. It will explore the materials and techniques used in glass making since the Middle Ages to Victorian times. Practices, including cartoon drawing, vidimus designing and glass-making will be studied. The module will be illustrated throughout by examples from ecclesiastical and secular glass in the city of York.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining our online courses would need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
