An Introduction to Critical Sociology (Accredited Course)

Thursday 22 April 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Speaker(s): Amy Holmes BA MA MA

Sociology is an incredibly broad discipline with a rich and varied history. Whether tackling broader issues such as the media, and conflict and harmony, or making sense of everyday life, sociological perspectives offer new ways of engaging with the social world. This module will engage critically with established social imaginaries, such as the body and the urban, and allow both beginners and more experienced learners to challenge established ways of seeing the world. What is society? Why are things as they are? This module aims to answer these questions, as well as discuss the wide range of political, cultural and social phenomena that we encounter in our everyday lives.
