Built, reshaped and repurposed, York’s city walls have been a key aspect of defence, power, trade, civic pride, and urban development. Utilising archaeological and documentary evidence, we will explore the changing roles and uses of York’s iconic walls in the medieval period - when the city walls were at their largest, most important, and most flexible in function.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining our online courses would need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
