The Art of Albrecht Dürer (second cohort)

Saturday 15 May 2021, 10.00AM to 1.15pm

Speaker(s): Peter Finch-Sieg PhD

As painter and printmaker, Dürer was famous throughout Renaissance Europe, and played a crucial role in the spread of ideas and approaches (in both directions) between Northern European and Italian versions of the ‘new art’. This session will consider Dürer’s entire oeuvre, placing the work in its social and art-historical contexts, with a particular emphasis on Dürer’s place in the crosscurrents between Venice and the North.
