Medieval London grew to become one of the wealthiest and most important cities in Europe. We will look at the layout of the city and the lives of its citizens through evidence from documents, archaeology and surviving buildings. We will examine the city’s palaces, churches and monasteries, bridges, rivers and suburbs, as well as exploring how the city attracted those seeking their fortunes such as Richard (Dick) Whittington.
