HG Wells once commented that: ‘Statistical thinking will one day be as necessary for efficient citizenship as the ability to read and write.’ In an age in which we are constantly confronted with a perplexing range of statistical claims on almost every topic imaginable, that time has come. Using real world examples, this interactive course will introduce even the most mathematically timid to a handy repertoire of strategies for handling statistical claims, and recognising when they are being sensationalised.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining our online courses would need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
