An Introduction to the Medieval Household

From the hovels of peasants to the homes of princes, this course will examine some of the many forms of the medieval household. Considering the differences between urban and rural situations, as well as between the social strata, each session will look at aspects of the home during the high to late medieval era. Using a variety of sources this course will explore the physical conditions, family structure and gender roles that helped to construct the medieval household.
