Books of the Decade: Reading the 2010s

Monday 19 April 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Speaker(s): Phoebe Power MA

What can contemporary literature tell us about the world around us? During this course we will read and discuss eight important books published in the last ten years, with a focus on novels. Connecting our reading to wider issues in culture and society, we will consider how literature can help us to make sense of our particular time in history, and perhaps offer new perspectives on topics such as political upheaval, extreme weather, race relations or human purpose in the 21st century. Everyone welcome; the only necessary qualification is a willingness to read and discuss the eight books.
