Homo Sapiens: A Journey Through the Ice Age

Tuesday 19 January 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00 PM

Speaker(s): Simone Chisena

Four hundred centuries ago, the very first of our ancestors reached Europe. Trapped in the cold embrace of the late Ice Age, this land seemed the worst place for a new species to flourish; yet, it was in this environment that we thrived, developed and cast the seed of what was to become civilization.

How did we achieve this? What were the skills that allowed us to conquer Europe and its hostile environment? During the course, we will look at what the archaeological record can reveal about this, and how much we can reconstruct the lives of the very first human Europeans.
