The New Testament in Art

Thursday 21 January 2021, 2.00PM to 4.00 PM

Speaker(s): Ruth Beckett

Drawing upon the Gospels as well as Acts of the Apostles and the Book of Revelation, this course will explore ways in which the visual arts can help us to understand some of the theological questions posed by these texts.  From the Nativity to the Crucifixion, from the Road to Emmaus to the Road to Damascus, with the Transfiguration and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse on the way, we shall consider the many different ways artists have responded to and interpreted the people, places and events of the New Testament.
