Venerable Bede’s Ecclesiastical History of the English People describes Britain’s resources and landscape to its Anglo-Saxon audience. Bede provides a portrait of seventh to eighth century England. He portrays Northumbria in particular. This course will explore early Anglo-Saxon England as Bede portrays and interprets it, and will contrast his view against archaeological and further historical evidence.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining our online courses would need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
