Medieval York through the Eyes of William Snawsell

Saturday 30 January 2021, 2.00PM to 5.00 PM

Speaker(s): Barry Crump

William Snawsell was a key figure in 15th century York - as a silversmith, alderman, City Chamberlain, Sheriff, Lord Mayor, and tenant of Barley Hall. Living through the reigns of four kings, William was at the crisis meetings following the death of Richard III, and was amongst the first to declare loyalty to Henry VII. By studying his life, we will gain a fascinating personal perspective into medieval York.
