Madness: Insane Psychiatrists and Asylums

The asylum: refuge or reformatory; repository for the psychologically unacceptable or morally and environmentally therapeutic; architectural signifier of social control or self-serving total institution of psychiatric excess?  This ‘taster course’ explores the history and meaning of the asylum for the mad and the medical profession.
