Speaker(s): Ruth Beckett

This course will explore the literary landscapes of George Eliot.  It will consider the complex and multifarious ways in which her novels drew upon the social and geographical landscapes with which she was familiar while at the same time exploring plot, character and theme in ways which transcend their setting.  This course will focus primarily on The Mill on the Floss, Adam Bede and Middlemarch although there will be reference to other novels.
