The Creation of the County of Yorkshire

The name ‘Yorkshire’ was first used in the Domesday Book in 1086, but how and when was the county of Yorkshire created? Did the Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings or Normans have the most impact in creating the county of Yorkshire? This course will trace the evolution of the county we now call Yorkshire from the Roman period to 1086.
