Neanderthal Man: Cousin, Ancestor and Teacher

Monday 28 September 2020, 7.00PM to 9:00PM

Long before our appearance in Europe, another human species inhabited our continent: the Neanderthal. Neanderthals were the only other human species we ever met, but this encounter was to leave long-lasting marks on our history and evolution. In this course, we will look at the archaeological record for Neanderthals across Europe. We will explore Neanderthal’s relationship with the challenging environment of the Ice Age, their relational dynamics and will try to delve deeper into their symbolic and emotional minds.
