Time and the Universe

Tuesday 1 October 2019, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

The course will be about how the laws of physics and the universe as a whole determine (to a large extent) the nature of physical time. Topics will include Newtonian physics and absolute time, thermodynamics and the arrow of time, relativity and the overthrow of absolute time, quantum theory and causality, cosmology, and the beginning of time. The course will be non-technical and only a general acquaintance with science and maths will be assumed.
