The aim of this course is to expose the beauty of mathematics by developing essential ideas from the ground up, without requiring previous knowledge. We will start at the beginning, with the idea of counting, and carefully develop the central concepts of arithmetic, geometry, algebra and set theory, using clear definitions and concrete examples. The objective is to gain a clear picture of the central concepts underlying number, shape and space, and how they interrelate.
