An Introduction to Infinity

This course will provide an introduction to the concept of infinity and how it has been addressed in the history of ideas from the time of the Ancient Greeks to the present. Some of the themes to be considered will be the paradoxes of the infinitely large and infinitely small, the treatment of the metaphysics of the infinite by philosophers such as Aristotle, Kant, and Hegel, and the impact of the work of Cantor on the mathematics of the infinite.
