This half-day course on Seamus Heaney will concentrate on some of the aspects of his poetry that he is known for, such as his portrayal of nature, archaeology as a metaphor, language, and formal poetic strategies. We will read a selection of his poems, and also talk about his relationship with other poets who share concerns and techniques with him.
