At the time of his death, Italo Calvino (1923-1985) was the most-translated Italian author. From the coming-of-age novel The Path to the Spiders’ Nest set in World War II to the delicately and beautifully philosophical Mr Palomar, Calvino raises themes across the socio-political landscape and beyond. During this day we will explore the life, times, and extracts of fiction of this unstintingly inventive writer.
