'Two Wolves in the Wood': Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes

Saturday 7 December 2019, 10.00AM to 4.30pm

Plath and Hughes are acclaimed as leading poets in their own right. As a couple, however, the chemistry between them produced a unique body of work which offers insights into the fraught, emotional struggle which defined their tragic relationship. Looking closely at the work of both poets, we will develop an understanding of the complex relationship between love, life and art. The course will also draw upon the recently published second volume of Plath’s letters, and her newly-discovered short story, Mary Ventura and The Ninth Kingdom.
