The Literary Landscapes of Charles Dickens

Monday 30 September 2019, 1.00PM to 3.00pm

This course will explore the literary landscapes of Charles Dickens. It will consider the complex and multifarious ways in which his novels drew upon the physical landscapes with which Dickens was familiar while at the same time developing these into rich metaphors through which plot, character and theme are explored. This course will focus primarily on Great Expectations, Bleak House and Our Mutual Friend although there will be reference to other novels.
