The Artist's Studio Through the Centuries

Wednesday 15 April 2020, 1.00PM to 3.00pm

Artists’ studios have always fascinated the outside world, generating curiosity and creating myths. Nonetheless, what clues does an artist’s space reveal about the nature of his/her work? Who inhabits or visits these spaces? What is the difference between a Renaissance bottega and the workshop of Jeff Koons? Can artists’ studios be classified, and if so, on what basis? These are some of the questions we will attempt to answer, whilst looking at the space artists use to create their work. Daytime visits to local artists’ studios will be organised; students will be responsible for their own transport to and from the venues. Some walking and steps are envisaged.
