Introduction to Islamic Art and Architecture

In this course, we will explore the most remarkable artworks and religious and non-religious buildings erected in the Islamic world. We will start with the advent of Islam in the seventh century and we will continue up to the twentieth century. We will travel from Saudi Arabia to Syria, from Egypt to Spain, from Central Asia to Turkey following the history of the diverse dynasties that ruled the Islamic world and gain an insight into their artistic production.
