'Dust, Worms and Vile Flesh': The Art of Death in Medieval England

Saturday 26 October 2019, 1.30PM to 4.30pm

During the Middle Ages, tales of ghosts and the walking dead were not confined to 31 October. In the medieval mind there was a continuous relationship between the living and the dead. Together we will read some of these scary stories and look at the art which accompanied them. Using funerary monuments, we will also explore the impact of the Black Death and the growing interest in the macabre.
