Saturday 27 June 2020, 10.00AM to 1pm
From the eighteenth century to the nineteenth century, Yorkshire was transformed by the agrarian and industrial revolutions. Enclosures, crop rotation, canals and turnpike roads facilitated the development of Yorkshire textile mills whilst steam power, dependent on Yorkshire coalfields, increased the efficiency of production and the mass manufacture of wrought iron and steel. This day course will examine how changes occurred in food supply and transport to enable the industrialisation of Yorkshire and the demographic and social consequences of those changes. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
