Building the Guild Hall - online course

The Guild Hall in York was the centre of the medieval and Tudor city with close links to the Merchant Adventurers, the Guilds of York and the Mayors and City Corporation. This day course will examine the stories behind the building of the Guild Hall and the disputes between the mayors and the guilds as they jostled for political control of the city. Discover tales of political intrigue and scandal at the heart of the city including embezzlement by one of the Masters of the Guild of St Christopher and George.
