History of Spain: From Roman Hispania to the Caliphate of Cordoba

Roman Hispania became the kingdom of the Visigoths after the Fall of the Empire in the fifth century. In 711 the kingdom was conquered by Muslim Moors, who established a successful and powerful Caliphate. Roman, Visigothic and Moorish Spain have all left a remarkable artistic and cultural legacy which can be admired by visitors of Spain today. This course will explore the history of Spain, from its Roman times to the height of the Caliphate of Cordoba.
