The History of London’s Transport (1860-1962)

Monday 30 September 2019, 9.00AM

Drawing on recent research, the course looks at the history of London’s transport networks between the 1860s and 1960s, including rail, underground, bus, tram and boat. It will discuss their development, how they shaped the city’s urban development and topography, the changes in how people travelled, and how transport influenced Londoners’ lives. The course does not seek to cover every subject in its entirety, but is a gateway to further learning and discovery.
