Splendid Isolation? Britain and the World from the First World War to Brexit

Tuesday 1 October 2019, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Debates about Britain’s role in the world have acquired a renewed prominence since the 2016 referendum on EU membership. Many of the questions raised by Brexit have, however, been an important part of British political life for over a century. By analysing these debates through revisiting topics such as the world wars, decolonisation, and the Cold War, this course will highlight the global dimensions of recent British history.
