History Mysteries: Was Edward II Murdered?

Saturday 5 October 2019, 10.00AM to 4.00pm

In 1326 King Edward II was deposed and imprisoned by his wife Queen Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimer. On 22 September 1327, Edward II was reputedly murdered, yet three years later his younger brother, Edmund of Woodstock, led a plot to release him from captivity. There were also rumours that Edward II had fled to the continent, disguised as a pilgrim. What really happened to Edward II? This day course will unravel some of the mysteries of the death of Edward II. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
