The reign of George III (1760-1820) was an incredibly turbulent period in British history. By George’s death, Britain had lost the majority of its American colonies, forged a new empire in India, and had emerged from the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars as the preeminent European power. This course will explore the social, political, military and imperial developments that contributed to the evolution of the British nation into a global superpower.
