Until the thirteenth century, men and women’s clothes were very similar. In the fourteenth century, however, fashion changed emphasising the body shape. Imported opulent silks and brocades were used to create sumptuous clothes. This seminar, illustrated with contemporary pictures, will explore the changes in fashion throughout the Middle Ages.
