Saturday 9 March 2019, 9.15AM to 12.00pm
Course Description
Part of our film series 'A Brief Introduction to Japanese Cinema'.
Tokyo Story (Yasujiro Ozu, 1953)
Ozu’s most famous film is a typically moving study of middle-class family life. When an elderly couple travel to Tokyo to visit their family, they find themselves spurned by their offspring; only their widowed daughter-in-law is pleased to see them. Beautifully understated, this was voted the third greatest film of all time by the critics of Sight and Sound in 2012.
Course fee includes screening, introductory lecture and tea/coffee
