Saturday 2 March 2019, 9.15AM to 12.00pm
Part of our film series 'A Brief Introduction to Japanese Cinema'.
Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa, 1950)
Set in 12th century Japan, Kurosawa’s breakthrough film offers four contradictory accounts of the woodland encounter between a wealthy married couple and a bandit that results in the husband’s death. Kuroswa’s endlessly moving camera and beautifully composed shots make this a visual treat. More importantly, this was the film that introduced western audiences to Japanese cinema.
