Dragons: From Medieval Tales to Modern Fantasy

Saturday 3 November 2018, 10.00AM to 4.30pm

Enrol and pay online

This course takes a close look at the figure of the dragon in art and literature across the centuries, from its early appearances in medieval epics to its later reincarnations in modern fantasy novels, films, TV series, and games. Were these mythical creatures once considered real? Are medieval dragons similar to those created by authors like Tolkien or George RR Martin? Did they always breathe fire or hoard treasure? And why have these winged serpents captured our imaginations for so long?
