In 1322, at the Battle of Broughbridge, Edward II faced one of the most important rebellions of his reign. This was partially a result of his incompetent military leadership which resulted in Scottish armies ravaging the north of England. This course will explore the role of Thomas of Lancaster, leader of the opposition to Edward II, his motivation, and his ultimate defeat at Boroughbridge and execution at his own castle of Pontefract. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
