Paul Mellon Grant Success!

Congratulations to Jo Applin and Rebecca Senior who have both been awarded grants by the Paul Mellon Centre.

Jo ApplinSenior Lecturer Jo Applin has been awarded a Paul Mellon Centre Research Support Grant for her research on Alison Wilding.  The grant will allow Jo to go to the US to visit a collection of Alison Wilding’s work. Jo is writing a book to be published by Ridinghouse and Lund Humphries focusing on the sculpture Wilding has been creating since the 1980s and it will also be the first monograph on the artist. 

PhD student Rebecca Senior has also been awarded a Paul Mellon Centre Research Support Grant.  Rebecca's grant will enable her to go to Kolkata in February to visit the Women's Studies department and the Asiatic Society archives to research her project: Allegorising Race: Sir Richard Westmacott’s Monument to Lord William Bentinck (1839) and the Abolition of the Sati.
